Professor, Department of Statistics, Oklahoma State University

I graduated from high school in 1999 and went to Kansas State University. I originally majored in Math Education, but dropped the "Ed" part and added a minor in Statistics. I didn't really have a plan post graduation, but thought the Statistics minor might help me find a job. In a meeting with Professor Jim Higgins, he suggested I consider an MS in Statistics. Once he explained that a teaching assistantship could supplement the degree, I was sold! I now had a plan to put off having a plan for 2 more years. During my first year of graduate school everything changed. I absolutely fell in love with research, teaching and Statistics. I've been doing it ever since. After 15+ years as a professor of Statistics at OSU, I still love research and teaching as much as ever. But I think what brings me the most joy . . . helping students discover their passion for learning and discovery.

I'm a sports fan! I like to play tennis and discgolf for exercise, and watch a college basketball and football. I like to hack at the guitar, sing loudly and poorly, and play piano. I have a wonderful wife and 10 year old son. I'm a people person and like to laugh.
